It is the third generation of new platinum-based antitumor compounds after cisplatin and carboplatin. It is mainly used clinically for patients with colorectal cancer metastasis after failure of fluorouracil treatment. It can be used alone or in combination with fluorouracil. The only platinum-based drug with significant activity against colorectal cancer.
